Shera Swar is located on the main road between Salahadin and Shaqlawa at a distance of 42 kilometers from Erbil. The name refers to Shera Swar: a fighter who participated in the liberation of Jerusalem from the Crusaders during the rule of Commander Salahadin Ayoubi. In appreciation of his courage, Salahadin conferred on himself the title of Shera Swar, meaning “The Intrepid Knight.” After the liberation of Jerusalem, Shera Swar returned to Kurdistan and settled in the Shera Swar region. The place was transformed into a playing field that is visited by citizens on many occasions.
