Halgurd Mountain is situated 170 kilometer northeast of Erbil. With a peak altitude of 3607 meters, Halgurd is the tallest mountain in Iraq. Halgurd Mountain is located among wonderful districts such as Galala, Haji Omaran, Roost, and Sidakan in the town of Choman.
The peak of the mountain is covered with snow throughout the year. There are many springs and lakes around the mountain that give an attractive view to the area.
Halgurd-Sakran National Park stretches 1000 square meter from Haji Omran to Sidakan district. It is visited by tourists from all over Iraq and other foreign countries to spend enjoyable time in adventure and hiking. There are also various lawns and different kinds of herbs that can be used as medicine.
