Overview

The citadel lies in the northern part of Akre town, 450m above see level. It was built by prince Zand in 580 B.C. at the top of a tall mountain. The citadel consists of four pillars of 110m each and contains several floors. The upper floor is known as the prince's residence, the middle floor was used as a food storage room, while the basement is a round meethin hall, with a flat rock in the middle. There is also a water well and a room thought to have been used as jail.
