The site of what is now the Azadi Park used to be a military base during the Ba’ath regime, but after the uprising in 1991, it was converted into a tourism attraction. The park contains several beautiful gardens, a restaurant, a small lake as well as sports areas and playgrounds for children. It is a popular spot for relaxation and enjoyment for local residents.
